God of this City

This weekend, I played guitar with the band as we lead the church in musical worship and "God of this City" is the last song we played. It really hit home with our new series called, "Bridge," which is about reaching the community...serving them, loving them, connecting them...Here are the lyrics:

Verse 1:
You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

Chorus 1:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all Kings
You Are

You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are

Chorus 2:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for you and love for you
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Here is the song (only way I could find to host it):

P.S. Does anyone know of any good websites to host files?...video, audio...because the website I use has a limit of 10mb.

Afternoons with iTunes

I really dig iTunes. I mean c'mon, affordable albums that don't waste plastic or paper...sweetness! I recently got a giftcard for it and have been debating with myself about what album I should get or maybe pay the extra cash to buy two albums. These are some of my choices:

Easter Weekend

Like I said in my last post, my bro and sis-n-law flew in Friday and on the way home we stopped to nosh on some sandwiches beachside. When we arrived back home, we helped 'em unpack and were killing time 'til the Good Friday "experience" commenced...then, the doorbell rang. I look through the side and see what looks like my brother's dogs...and Jon says, "Just open the door."
My sister drove up to visit us too!!
There was much rejoicing...so we went to the church facility and surprised our parents with Heather (my mom screamed and my dad's eyes grew to the size of tennis balls). The experience was well put together and really set the mood for the reflection on Easter Weekend. Afterwards, we went and celebrated my day of birth (19 years ago) at Red Lobster which was great because I didn't have to endure a group of ill-tuned voices from waiters (or waitresses) yelling their version of the birthday song while I sport a toilet seat cover around my neck.
On Saturday, we played some games:
-Scene It: Squabble
-Apples to Apples
-Yahtzee
-Finish Lines
And to finish it off we watched I Am Legend, which I thought was good, intense! but good.
Unfortunately, they all 3 left today, but I am so grateful that I got to see and spend time with them. I love you guys!

Maundy Thursday

Tonight we (middle school students and leaders) met for Thursday night FiX, only we met in a more liturgical way. It is Maundy Thursday, deriving from the Latin phrase madatum novum which means new commandment. It is a day of commemorating The Last Supper with Jesus Christ and His disciples, therefore we partook in communion symbolizing our remembrance of Christ's new covenant and sacrifice that He made for us. We served each other and said, "The body of Christ, the blood of Christ, remember Jesus." We also sang songs of praise to God as we remembered Christ: The Wonderful Cross, How Deep the Father's Love for Us, & Come Thou Fount. It all really reminded me that communion brings grace, mercy, and forgiveness...it also binds a community as each person is served by another. I thank God for his grace, without it, man I would be screwed and totally messed up. Well I just wanted to share with you all of what we did tonight and I pray that you all will take time (maybe alone with God) to remember, pray, and thank God for the sacrifice He made for all who accept His invitation.

Tomorrow is going to be good (pun intended), because my brother and sis-in-law are coming to visit us for Easter weekend, so that'll be rad, and tomorrow night we are gonna go to the Good Friday gathering and experience a night of prayer and communion...it should be awesome. Also, tomorrow I become 19 years of age which is kind of a weird age because you're just one year older than a voter/lotto gambler/smoker, two less than a drinker, real gambler, etc., and one less than a 20 year old (which just sounds cool in my opinion, "Hey I'm 20!"). Anywho...

Love You All and I pray you have a powerful and meaningful Easter Weekend!

P.S. "The name Good Friday is generally believed to be a corruption of God's Friday."

Ok...so I found this footage from last year of my friend Taylor and me skating near my old house and thought I would make a short video out of it. I also wanted to test this website, Vimeo, with its video quality. Stay tuned for upcoming episodes! Love you Teeps.

Ketchup (Catch Up)

AHHHHHHH I haven't posted for 10 days!!!!

I went to Pt. Lobos last week with my parents and grandparents and took some photos. Here's a few...

What's it called?

Okay...just to satisfy my own madness, I would like to know the official term for my non-dominant hand. i.e. My right hand is my dominant hand, my left hand is non-dominant or non-dexterous. So I looked around the Internet and found a few possibilities and resources:

-Subsidiary (Merriam Webster)
-Handedness (Wikipedia)
-Laterality (Wikipedia
-Path to Ambidexterity (Blog)

In conclusion, I still don't know the actual name for my left hand, so if anybody has a clue or in fact knows...please share your wisdom!

Bye Bye Ben

Last we all went to the Step's house and hung out with our friend Ben one last time, because he is moving to Cincinnati. We all love you and we will miss you!
