Gadzooks!

I recently purchased a Merriam-Webster's Everyday Language Reference Set and Rhyming Dictionary. The set has a dictionary, thesaurus, and vocabulary builder that shows you the roots of words to better understand and expand your vocabulary...I'm diggin' it.

Who says God doesn't answer prayers?

"...free WIFI for partners and customers beginning in the Spring, and more to come."

Thank You Lord!

Vantage Point

My friends and I saw Vantage Point, and honestly I was rather surprised and impressed by how well done the movie was...not to much mention, there was like 10 big name actors in it. I think it is worth a see! Speaking of vantage point, I was on my way over to my friends' house (the Step's) and I saw this...

Blogging Purpose

I was just thinking about what I want my blog to be. Like, do I want it to be about the thoughts, questions, and views I have on certain topics? Do I want it to be about my enjoyment with media? (i.e. movie trailers, graphics, photos, music, websites etc.) Should I mix it up? Split 'em into two blogs? I don't know.

The reason I ask these questions is because I like to discuss or write about serious issues, concerns, & questions that I have with the world, God, life...but I also enjoy sharing movies, music, and general media that I take interest in. So what do I do?

On top of this, I like to journal about life and share it with my fellow bloggers or bloggies.

So in conclusion: Hmmmmmmmm.

God Watch

Every week at Fix we try to do this thing called, "God Watch" which is basically an opportunity for the students and leaders to share what God has been doing in their lives and/or others. So I thought I would share my God Watch experience that I had today with y'all...
This morning, I progressed through my usual routine which generally stays the same:
  • Alarm
  • Drag Outta Bed
  • Shower
  • Clothe
  • Eat
  • Brush
  • Get Ready & Leave!
I started driving out of the neighborhood this morning, listening to music (like I normally do ) and went on my way to school. About two minutes in the car, I turn off the music and start talking to God...I really like doing this in the car...1. Because I can talk as loud as I want 2. Because God listens and responds.
I started talking about several different things on my heart, but one of 'em was about having an exciting, unusual, different kinda day. Well, I went on with my day and when it got around to lunch time, I decided to look on Google Maps and find some fast food. Well, long-story-short, I didn't find where I wanted to go, but I ended up spotting this little spot off the freeway exit that goes right to the shore. I got a parking space about 50 ft. from the water facing out towards the ocean...it so beautiful and soothing to hear and see the waves crash and foam...Amazing!

My Dream Came True,
Thanks God!

Wicked Weather!

I have really been enjoying the weather here lately...so much in fact that I took one of the dining room chairs and went out on the porch...I have proof!
Thanks God for Your Creation!

Classic Quip, Hateful Heart?

So earlier this morning, my writing class was reading these two pieces in our textbook and my group was leading the discussion. Well, the other guy in my group was telling us some of the background info of one of the authors that we were reading about. He starts listing off the author's works and awards, and one of 'em was a respectable award from President Bush and the teacher says, "Wow, Bush can read?"...talk about 15 wide-eyed students accompanied with some nervous laughs...and the best part was her reaction to what she had just said, "Oh! I'm not supposed to say stuff like that, don't tell anybody!" These sort of remarks really put perspective on what the general public thinks of Bush, it is kinda sad...I see so many ad's, jokes, articles and hateful remarks toward our current president...I can only imagine how he feels each day knowing these things and what that does to a person, no matter what they have done. I am not trying to take sides or provoke nasty political comments, but I just was thinking about it.
I am not sure if this applies to us, but I noticed that in 1 Peter Ch. 2 & Romans 13 it talks about submitting to authorities, and I feel it necessary for us to love our brothers and sisters no matter what they have done (1st and 2nd Greatest Commandments according to Jesus).

One of the Best Teasers

I remember loving this teaser when I first saw it in the theater...but I watched it again and I got chills.

Some more randomness...

Cutest dog in the world.

"Shade of Green" version of John's sweet car (except that as soon as we crossed the intersection the guy driving cut me and I think 2 other people off, oh well...no harm no foul?)

Yippee-Ki-Yay

My friends and I watched the first Die Hard movie (it was my first time seeing it)....awesome action film. We had a good sized group of friends there...we played catch phrase, talked, and partook in salty cookies (just kidding Sarah)...I look forward to many more movie nights, thanks JP and Sarah!

Pangaea Day

Here is their trailer:

I read about this on IC's blog and found it interesting...here's what it's about:

Franz' Old Man

Tonight I read "Letter to His Father" by Franz Kafka which is naturally a letter that Kafka wrote to his father about the impact and scarring that his dad left on his life. Rather melancholy...but it engendered me to reflect on a few concepts like:
  • My own relationship with my dad
  • What I hope my relationship with my children to be like
  • Guessing/wondering what kind of man Kafka is today as a result of his dad
I am very grateful for both my parents and the wonderful role models that they have demonstrated in my life. Thanks Mom and Dad!

George, Charles & Noah! aka Words, Words, Words!

Alright so I don't know if you know these guys, but they are responsible for all of those Merriam-Webster Dictionaries/Thesauruses. I have really been wanting to buy a Dictionary, Thesaurus, and possibly a Rhyming Dictionary! I am fascinated with words, meanings, expressions, definitions, synonyms, antonyms, etc. I really want to be able to expand my vocab., but it is so hard when all I have is this:
I made a "Merriam Webster" search on Target's Website and I was overwhelmed by how many different kinds of dictionaries and thesauruses there are. So I think I might just walk over there some day and see what I like in terms of size and quantity. Any recommendations?

1 Year Review

Well, I forgot to mention that it has been one year (& a month actually) since I started this blog. January 4th-February 4th...pretty crazy, but what is interesting is that I looked backed at my first post:

"This is my brand new blog for my artwork which will include songs, photos, graphics, and journal entries. Enjoy and be sure to do some commentary."

Have I lived up to what my blog was originally designed to look like? I don't know, but I think that is the beauty of blogging...it doesn't have to be about this or that, it can be about whatever you want it to be.

Thank You Readers and Fellow Bloggers, but most of all I thank God for providing the opportunity as always and for blessing me with such freedoms as writing, expression, speech, and free will.

Random Thoughts

Thought #1: U23D has a 94% rating according to Rotten Tomatoes, and a 96% rating according to top movie critics! And I heard and finally checked out that it is playing at my local movie theater, The Maya, I gotta go see it!

Thought #2: I like Starbucks as much as the next person, maybe even more than your next person, but there is one thing I loathe about Starbucks Coffee Shops...3 words:

No Free WiFi!
Besides the extra dough from T-Mobile, why would Starbucks do this? Urrrggghhh...
By the way, I know that this has occurred for quite some time, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Thought #3: I'm diggin' my writing class (WRT-95), it was cool because yesterday I cruised into a Starbucks nearby (silently protesting about the lack of Free WiFi!) and sat down in a comfy chair and read the 3 essays in one of our classroom texts assigned that we discussed the next morning. The essays were written by Malcolm X, David Sedaris, and Amy Tan about different experiences with language. For instance, Sedaris writes about a French class he participated in Paris, France. His first line reads, "Welcome to French class, where you must learn to juggle irregular verbs, flying chalk, and the constant threat of bodily harm." (Sedaris 19)

Headphones, In-Ear's, or the Wedge?

I made a new a poll in the top right again and you can guess what it is about...
So to my musicians, sound guys, and whoever else, what is your preference? Which do you play with best?

I personally like the wedge, but have learned to play with one ear with headphone and the other bare.
