Displace Me

Last night was simply amazing to see thousands of people in the L.A. Fairgrounds to End the War of Northern Uganda. We all gathered together to listen, pray, dance, watch, and peacefully protest to our government for peace in Africa. We sent letters to the White House that will be delivered within this next month to show how feel about the Genocide of the Invisible Children. We ate together, we called people to gain awareness of this injustice, we were peacefully silent for 21 mins to represent the 21 years of war, and most of all we were Displaced for 10 hours to represent the 10 years of displacement in northern Uganda. Families were forced out of their homes and villages to displacement camps by the LRA army, children abducted, brainwashed, and trained to kill and desensitized. So we are going to jam the phone lines at the whitehouse on monday with this number: (202) 456-1414 and tell them to stop the war and injustice...to bring peace.

We slept out of cardboard and grass, we ate saltines and water, and we met with complete strangers to channel our energy to the government for change in Africa.

My O.G.

I simply love my small group or Overflow Group. I look forward to it every week because it is always, let me repeat that, ALWAYS something new, exciting, crazy and/or lovable. Just the mix of personalities are alone amazing. So I thought i would make a video of what could potentially happen at such a gathering. We meet at the Rodriguez Household and come together in fellowship and bible study discussing the word's interpretations and eating food.

Audiobooks are sweet, along with regular books

So I have been reading, listening, and soaking in books lately. "What else is new?", you might ask. Well I can tell you that I recently found out I might be working over at the Grove Bookstore so that kinda relates to this topic of books, but anyways...I finished listening to Sex God: Exploring the Endless Connections Between Sexuality and Spirituality Audiobook, so I started listening to the Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith Audiobook. Not to mention I am also reading the (regular paper) book Under the Overpass which is about these two college guys who feel God soften their hearts for people that are without homes and decide to plunge into the lives of people that are homeless and how they live. So they become homeless and travel between cities to see through the eyes of people that are homeless. It really has opened my eyes to truth that there is no level of sin and that if a person is homeless and they are addicted to drugs, that it is no different from me not loving every single person around me as much as I love myself (not in a narcissistic way but in a caring way). We all struggle and fall short of God's calling but we also are all forgiven and loved by God through Jesus. It's Awesome! I recommend picking it up for a short read, I am actually borrowing it from Holly Rodriguez, so you can't borrow it from me (but after I'm done reading it, you could ask Holly! haha).

INSPI(RED)

Well I went to the Gap at the Galleria the other day and looked at some of the (RED) Products they had there and found this one, and I found out that half of the money goes towards medicine for those suffering from HIV in Africa, so I was like, "Sweet!" It's pretty cool knowing that I am wearing something that made a difference in someone's life, I just pray that I will soon be able to be over there myself helping in what ever way I can. If you haven't check out (RED) Products yet then visit www.joinred.com and check out some of the companies involved.
